A Trusted Handbook

Peter’s book, The Art of Teaching Adults: How To Become an Exceptional Teacher & Facilitator is the result of 25+ years of working with trainers and educators in corporate and higher education classrooms. Filled with dozens of how-to techniques on planning, presenting, and facilitation, it has become a trusted handbook for train-the-trainer and instructional skills courses. With its focus on active learner participation, this collection of tools and techniques has stood the test of time. Over 100,000 copies sold. This is the 2nd edition, revised and expanded.

Mary Atherton, RN, sent this on December 9, 2013 from Namibia: “I am writing to thank you for The Art of Teaching Adults. I was first introduced to the book in 2006 when I entered the Peace Corps at age 58 as a health volunteer and soon learned that a large part of my job was health education with adults and children. Your very practical book saved me many times over. I continue to use it in my “third” career as instructor-facilitator at local technical centre.”

“… a wonderful voice of experience, seasoned with playfulness and wisdom.”

Dianne Conrad, , Director, Centre for Learning Accreditation, Athabasca University

“With quiet tones and gentle manner, [he] suggests that we respect the learner; that we be honest to all who come within our teaching reach; and that we care deeply about those who entrust themselves to our teaching guidance.”

Daniel D. Pratt, , Professor of Adult Education and Senior Scholar, University of British Columbia (from the Introduction)
